Indie Sewing Designers

Blouse and pants from Violette Fields Threads Patterns

Are you a sewer? Seamstress? Whatever you call yourself (we won’t address that debate today) do you ever feel like you’re stuck with the Big Three when it comes to clothes patterns? (Vogue, Simplicity, McCalls) Did I forget one? Anyway, you’re not limited to them. Today we’ll explore two Indie Designers that I’ve used myself, and recommend them. I’m just a happy customer!  I hope you’ll recommend your favorites in the comments.

  • First and foremost – Collette Patterns. They have styles I love, a fit that is made for real women with curves and super duper support. They have Sew-A-Longs for most patterns, extra’s for a few pattern, free patterns and a very lively blog. Their newest thing? Seamwork –  A magazine devoted to us who sew, and to us who love anything to do with sewing. Each magazine costs only $6 and comes with two patterns. You can’t beat that deal with a stick!
  • For children’s clothes – Violette Fields Threads Patterns  I’ve made clothes for my granddaughter from these patterns. They are adorable, out of the ordinary and sew up like a breeze.
